A criminal record check confirms whether a person has a criminal case or conviction on record. In Bangladesh it combines two sources: the Police Clearance Certificate issued by Bangladesh Police, and a search of court records in the districts where the person has lived.
Bangladesh has no public criminal record database that an employer can search by name. Records sit with the police and with each court, so a reliable check has to cover both.

Every source we searched is listed with the date of the search and one of three results. If a name match comes up, we confirm it against the father’s name, address and age before we report it, so a stranger with the same name is not counted against your candidate.
A pending case is not a conviction. We report the facts and leave the hiring decision to you.

Is there a national criminal record database in Bangladesh?
No public database lets an employer search criminal records by name. Records are held by the police and by each court, which is why we check the Police Clearance Certificate and the courts in the candidate’s districts.
Does a pending case mean the candidate is guilty?
No. A pending case is an accusation that the court has not yet decided. We report its court, case number and status, and the hiring decision stays with you.
How long does a criminal record check take?
The Police Clearance Certificate depends on Bangladesh Police processing, which usually takes one to two weeks. We run the court searches at the same time and confirm the expected report date when you order.
What if the candidate has no passport?
A passport is needed to apply for a Police Clearance Certificate. If the candidate does not have one, we tell you and complete the court record searches, and the report shows that the police certificate was not available.
