What Is NID and Identity Verification?
NID and identity verification confirms that a job candidate is the real holder of the National ID card they present, by checking that the card, the person, the official record and the candidate’s other documents all show the same identity: name, date of birth, parents’ names, photo and NID number.
A photocopy of an NID shows a number. It does not show that the card is genuine or that it belongs to the person you are about to hire.

The rules
How NID Checks Work in Bangladesh Today
The Election Commission controls access to NID data. Only approved partner organisations can query its server, and in February 2025 the EC said it would tell them only whether submitted details are correct, not share the full record. In 2023, after NID data was found on a Telegram channel, the EC suspended access for some partners.
That is why our check is built on consent: the candidate shares their own official record with us, and we never use NID data from unofficial sources.

How Our NID Verification Works

What is NID and identity verification?
It confirms that a candidate is the real holder of the National ID card they present. We match the card, the person and their official record, and check that their name, date of birth and parents’ names agree across their documents.
How much does NID verification cost in Bangladesh?
BPO Bangladesh charges a flat USD $29 per candidate for NID and identity verification, including the live face match and a written report.
Do you check the Election Commission’s NID database?
No. Only organisations approved by the Election Commission can query the NID server, and since February 2025 the EC returns only whether submitted details are correct. The candidate shows us their own record from the EC’s official NID service, and we match it with the card, their face and their other documents.
What documents do you need?
Clear photos of the front and back of the NID, one more document such as a passport or educational certificate, the candidate’s signed consent and a time for a short video call.
How do you confirm the candidate is the card holder?
On a short live video call, or in person in Dhaka, our reviewer compares the candidate’s face with the NID photo and the photo on their official record, and asks them to confirm their details.
What if the name is spelled differently on different documents?
Bangla names are often written in English in more than one way, such as Hossain and Hossen. We record each version, check that the date of birth and parents’ names agree, and mark the result as a minor variation or a real discrepancy.
What does the identity verification report include?
A result for each check: the document review, the official record match, the face match and the cross-document check, plus any spelling variations or discrepancies and the date of the check.
Can you verify a candidate who has no NID?
Yes. We can use a passport or a birth registration certificate as the main document. We check birth registration numbers on the government’s online verification service and state in the report which document we used.
