Sex Offender Registry Check in Bangladesh: USD $89 per Candidate

Bangladesh has no official sex offender registry. Before you hire for a role near children or vulnerable adults, we search the records that do exist: women and children tribunal cases, the candidate’s police clearance certificate and foreign registries where they have lived.

Definition

What Is a Sex Offender Registry Check?

A sex offender registry check confirms whether a candidate has a recorded sexual offence before they work with children or vulnerable adults. In Bangladesh, where no official registry exists, it means searching Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal records, verifying the candidate’s police clearance certificate and checking foreign registries where they have lived.

Some private websites publish user-submitted reports of sexual offences. They are not official, and we do not treat them as evidence. For a full criminal history, see the criminal and court record check.

How Sex Offender Registries Work in Other Countries

Most registries are closed to employers. Only the US publishes one nationally. That is why the check depends on where the candidate has lived.

Why it matters

Why Child-Facing Roles Need This Check in Bangladesh

Reported sexual violence is rising, most victims are children, and many cases stay pending for years. Employers have to look at court records themselves.

What is included

Five Stops in Every Sex Offender Registry Check

Every candidate goes through the same five stops. The report shows what each stop found, with the source and date.

1

Identity match

NID, name spellings and father's name, so a common name does not create a false match.

2

Tribunal case search

Cases under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 in the districts the candidate lived or worked in for the last 5 years.

3

Police clearance

The candidate applies to Bangladesh Police. We confirm the certificate with the issuing office.

4

Foreign registries

NSOPW for the US, ACRO's certificate for the UK and police certificates for other countries the candidate lived in.

5

Safeguarding reference

We ask past employers in child-facing roles whether any sexual harassment complaint against the candidate was upheld.

Who it is for

Roles That Need a Sex Offender Registry Check

The check is fair when the job gives someone unsupervised time with children or vulnerable adults.

Teachers and tutors
Daycare and nanny staff
Coaching centre staff
School bus drivers
NGO child-protection staff
Nurses and caregivers
Domestic workers and drivers
Hostel and hotel staff

Run this check only for roles with access to children, patients or people at home. Pair it with an employment history check and reference checks.

Pricing

Sex Offender Registry Check: USD $89 per Candidate

One price for all five stops and one written report.

  • Identity match with NID and father's name
  • Women and children tribunal search, last 5 years of districts
  • Police clearance certificate verified
  • NSOPW search where the candidate lived in the US
  • UK and other foreign certificates checked
  • Safeguarding reference from a past employer

Why it costs more than a US search: NSOPW is free to search, but it covers only US registries. Bangladesh has no registry, so tribunal records are searched by hand in each district. Screening a whole school or team? See bulk screening.

Fair and lawful

Four Rules That Keep the Check Fair

A wrong label can end a career. So the check follows four fixed rules, and every finding in the report shows its source and date.

We report facts, you make the decision.

What we need from you

  • 1The candidate's signed consent
  • 2NID and addresses for the last 5 years
  • 3Countries lived in, with dates
RULE 1

Convictions and pending cases are reported separately

A pending case is shown as pending, with the court and status. It is not proof of guilt.

RULE 2

No unofficial lists as evidence

User-submitted websites and social media posts are never treated as a record.

RULE 3

Two identifiers for every match

A name alone is not enough. We confirm with NID or father's name before reporting a match.

RULE 4

Consent first, explanation before decision

The candidate signs written consent, and can explain any finding before you decide.

How it works

How a Sex Offender Registry Check Works

Typical turnaround is 7 to 10 working days. Bangladesh Police issues the clearance certificate within 7 working days in Dhaka and 10 outside Dhaka, so the report follows that timeline.

Candidates who lived abroad may need more time while their foreign certificate arrives.

Day 1Consent, NID, address history and countries lived in collected
Day 1-3Candidate applies for the police clearance certificate, if not already held
Day 2-7Tribunal, foreign registry and safeguarding reference checks
Day 7-10Written report with source and date for every finding

FAQs

Sex Offender Registry Check: FAQs

What is a sex offender registry check?

A sex offender registry check confirms whether a candidate has a recorded sexual offence before they work with children or vulnerable adults. In Bangladesh it means searching Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal records, verifying the police clearance certificate and checking foreign registries where the candidate has lived.

How much does a sex offender registry check cost in Bangladesh?

BPO Bangladesh charges USD $89 per candidate. This covers an identity match, a tribunal case search, police clearance verification, foreign registry checks and a safeguarding reference, with one written report.

Does Bangladesh have a sex offender registry?

No. Bangladesh has no official, government-run sex offender registry. Some private websites publish user-submitted reports, but they are not official, and we do not treat them as evidence.

What records do you search instead?

Cases under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 in the districts where the candidate lived or worked, the Bangladesh Police clearance certificate, foreign registries and certificates, and a reference from a past employer in a child-facing role.

Can you check a candidate who lived in the US or the UK?

Yes. For the US we search the public Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW). The UK register is not public, so the candidate applies to ACRO for an International Child Protection Certificate, which since February 2026 also shows children’s barred list information where relevant.

Will a pending case appear in the report?

Yes, but it is labelled as pending, with the court and case status. A pending case is not a conviction, and you should give the candidate a chance to explain before you decide.

How long does a sex offender registry check take?

Usually 7 to 10 working days, because the police clearance certificate takes up to 7 working days in Dhaka and 10 outside Dhaka. Foreign certificates can add time.

Do you need the candidate’s consent?

Yes, always. Bangladesh’s Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 requires informed and explicit consent before personal data is processed, and records of sexual offences are highly sensitive.
