What Is a Driving Record Check?
A driving record check confirms that a driver’s licence is genuine and valid on Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) records, that it belongs to the person in front of you, that its class covers the vehicle they will drive, and how they drove in previous jobs.
For company drivers, the key question is whether they hold a professional licence. Since 30 January 2022, a professional driving licence also needs a negative dope test report, so a health and drug screening is often ordered with it.

The 12-point licence
Under the Road Transport Act 2018 rules, gazetted on 27 December 2022, every licence starts with 12 points. Offences such as speeding or illegal parking cost one or two points, and the licence is revoked when all points are gone. In May 2026, BRTA said its Road Safety Penalty System app to enforce this would launch soon. Where BRTA shows points against a licence, we include them.

What is a driving record check?

How much does a driving record check cost in Bangladesh?
BPO Bangladesh charges USD $39 per driver. This covers a BRTA licence check, NID name and photo match, licence class and dates, a professional licence flag and a driving reference from the previous employer.
How can I verify a Bangladeshi driving licence?
BRTA’s DL Checker app, available on Android and iOS, shows whether a licence is valid. We use BRTA records and then match the licence to the driver’s NID, so a borrowed or altered licence is caught.
Does Bangladesh have a demerit point system for drivers?
Yes. Under the Road Transport Act 2018 rules, gazetted on 27 December 2022, every licence starts with 12 points and is revoked when all are lost. In May 2026, BRTA said its Road Safety Penalty System app to enforce this would launch soon.

There is no public accident database we can search by driver in Bangladesh. We ask the previous employer about accidents, fines and reliability, and record what they say.
How long does a driving record check take?
Usually 1 to 3 working days per driver. A previous employer who is slow to reply can add time.
Do you need the driver’s consent?
Yes. We need signed consent before we start. Bangladesh’s Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 requires informed and explicit consent before personal data is processed.
