Vendor Cybersecurity Assessment in Bangladesh
Find out whether the Bangladesh vendors that handle your data, systems or payments can actually protect them. We review their security controls against ISO 27001, SOC 2 and NIST CSF, check the evidence behind every answer, and give you a clear verdict with the fixes needed.
Definition
What Is a Vendor Cybersecurity Assessment?
A vendor cybersecurity assessment is a review of a supplier’s security controls, policies and evidence to decide whether it can safely access your data, systems or network, and which fixes or contract terms are needed before it does.
It goes deeper on security than a general third-party risk assessment, which also covers financial, legal and ESG risk. The rule is simple: a questionnaire answer is a claim, and we ask for the evidence behind it.

Ten control areas
What We Check in a Vendor Security Review
Every review covers the same ten areas, so you can compare vendors side by side. The weight of each area depends on what the vendor will access.
Identity and access
Multi-factor login, least privilege, shared accounts, and how fast leavers lose access.
Data protection
Encryption, retention, deletion and who can see your data.
Network and devices
Firewalls, antivirus, device encryption.
Patching
Vulnerability scans and patch speed.
Backup and recovery
Offline copies and restore tests.
Incident response
Plan, contacts and breach notice time.
Secure development
Code review and testing, for software vendors.
Cloud setup
Storage, admin roles and logging.
People
Background checks and security training.
Subcontractors and data location
Which other companies and countries your data passes through, and what they are bound to.
Assessment levels
Four Levels of Assessment, Matched to Risk
A stationery supplier and a payroll provider should not get the same review. We set the level by what the vendor will touch: your data, your systems, your money or your customers.
Each level includes everything in the levels before it. We never scan or test a vendor’s systems without their written permission.
Which level does your vendor need?
If more than one line applies, use the higher level.
Security questionnaire
Structured questions based on SIG, CAIQ or your own template.
Best for: Low-risk vendorsEvidence review
Policies, ISO 27001 certificate and scope, SOC 2 report, screenshots and logs checked against each answer.
Best for: Vendors handling your dataExternal exposure check
Non-intrusive review of the vendor's internet-facing websites, email security and leaked credentials, with their written permission.
Best for: Vendors with system accessRemote or on-site review
Live walkthrough of key controls with the vendor's IT team, at their office in Bangladesh where needed.
Best for: Critical vendorsWarning signs
Red Flags to Look For in a Vendor's Security
These are the gaps a questionnaire alone often misses. Each one is quick to check once you ask for evidence.

FAQs
Vendor Cybersecurity Assessment: FAQs
Bringing on a new supplier? Combine this with vendor onboarding and KYB checks.
What is a vendor cybersecurity assessment?
It is a review of a supplier’s security controls, policies and evidence to decide whether it can safely access your data, systems or network, and which fixes or contract terms are needed first.
How is it different from a third-party risk assessment?
A third-party risk assessment looks at all risks a vendor brings, including financial, legal and ESG risk. A vendor cybersecurity assessment goes deeper on security controls and evidence only. See our third-party risk assessment service for the wider review.
What evidence should a vendor provide?
Typical evidence includes security policies, an ISO 27001 certificate with its scope, a SOC 2 report, recent vulnerability scan or penetration test summaries, backup and restore records, access reviews and training records.
Is an ISO 27001 certificate or SOC 2 report enough?
Not on its own. We check that the certificate or report is current, that its scope covers the service you are buying, and whether it lists exceptions. Many smaller Bangladesh vendors have neither, so we check their controls directly.
Do you scan or hack the vendor's systems?
Only with the vendor’s written permission. Level 3 is a non-intrusive check of internet-facing systems. A full penetration test is a separate engagement agreed with the vendor.
Which frameworks do you use?
We map findings to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2, NIST CSF 2.0 and CIS Controls v8. We can also use the SIG or CAIQ questionnaires, or your company’s own security questionnaire.
How long does an assessment take?
It depends mostly on how quickly the vendor shares evidence. A questionnaire and evidence review usually takes one to three weeks. Critical vendors with a site visit take longer.
What happens if the vendor fails?
You get three options: reject the vendor, approve with conditions and deadlines for fixes, or accept the risk with extra controls on your side. We can re-check the fixes before access is granted.
