You need to have strong typing skills and attention to detail to succeed as a data entry operator. Data entry specialists should be able to spot problems in data immediately and work with accuracy.

Data Entry Operator Responsibilities:

  • Collecting, organizing, and getting ready papers, materials, and data for data input.
  • Doing out research to gather data for missing papers and materials
  • Converting paper or voice recordings into digital documents.
  • Checking the accuracy of all documents and information, notifying the supervisor of any mistakes or discrepancies.
  • Creating digital databases to store data and creating regular backups.
  • Updating and keeping up with filing systems, archives, and databases.
  • Database monitoring, review, and error or consistency correction.
  • Creating and exporting spreadsheets, documents, and data reports as necessary.
  • Performing administrative tasks like filing, keeping an eye on office supplies, scanning, and printing as necessary.

Data Entry Operator Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma.
  • 1 year of equivalent experience as a data entry operator.
  • Superb keyboarding skills.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with office productivity programs like Google Suite and MS Office.
  • The capacity to accurately organize and process large amounts of data.
  • Good knowledge of databases, digital filing systems, and paper filing systems.
  • Understanding of office and clerical procedures.
  • Keen attention to detail and the capacity for sustained concentration.
  • Strong communication skills both in writing and speaking.
